Home Insurance

Openplan customers
Openplan account customers are also entitled to a specific home insurance policy, 'Openplan Select'. If buildings, contents and personal possessions away from the home are purchased, free annual travel cover is included.The home insurance policy features for Openplan Select are the same as Homewise Select - see below. To take advantage of this service, either visit your local Woolwich.co.uk branch or call Customer Services on 0800 015 5442*.

Standard Cover
Homewise Select can provide protection for:

• your contents – including your household goods and personal belongings in the home
• your personal property away from home – including clothing and valuables such as jewellery and cameras
• your buildings – including your home, garage and outbuildings

Age discounts
Recent experience has enabled Woolwich.co.uk insurance to offer a progressive range of discounts based on your age. Generally, the older you are the bigger the reduction in premium.

Monthly premium payments
You can spread the cost of your cover throughout the year at no extra charge.

Efficient claims service
Woolwich.co.uk's fast, efficient and friendly claims service is designed to make the process as easy as possible.

New for Old cover
Claims will be settled on a repair or replacement-as-new basis. The only exception is clothing that’s more than two years old. In this case a deduction is made for wear and tear.

Motor Insurance
Woolwich.co.uk motor insurance is underwritten by Norwich Union Insurance Limited, part of the Aviva Group, the UK's largest insurer.

The comprehensive policy offers:

• Accident recovery line 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
• Woolwich.co.uk Insurance that can be arranged over the phone on 0845 945 4545* between 8am and 8pm weekdays and 9am and 5pm Saturdays.
• Repairs authorised swiftly using a network of quality specialists.
• Provided an approved repairer is used:
  A courtesy car is available for a small additional charge, including up to 14 days' cover for theft/total loss.
• All repairs are guaranteed for three years.
• Car is cleaned inside and out before being returned to the customer.
• Unlimited audio equipment cover for standard manufactured fit in the event of theft or damage, £500 limit for non-standard manufactured fit.
• Cover for personal effects up to the value of £100 on any one occurrence

Additional options available with the motor policy include:

• Legal expenses – This includes uninsured loss recovery, which in the event of a non-fault accident provides professional assistance to recover expenses not covered under your policy, including your policy excess.
• Vehicle breakdown, roadside assistance and recovery services – If your car breaks down, your Personal Incident Manager will arrange for someone to come out and help you, either by carrying out roadside repairs or by taking it to a nearby garage. If your car cannot be repaired within a reasonable time, we'll arrange for you to continue your journey to a destination of your choice. You'll also be able to call for help if your car won't start while parked at home.
• Personal Accident Plan– This gives you additional personal cover for injury or death as a result of an accident.

Exclusions to the motor policy. Your policy will not pay for:

• The excess.
• Loss or damage arising from theft while the ignition keys of your car have been left in or on the car.
• Loss of use, reduction in value, wear and tear, or mechanical, electrical or computer breakdowns, failures or breakages.
• Damage to tyres by braking or by punctures, cuts or bursts.
• Loss or damage directly caused by pressure waves caused by aircraft or other flying devices travelling at, or above, the speed of sound.
• Loss of value following a repair.
