Are my details secure over the Internet? They have taken care to protect any information you provide them by giving you a personal customer reference number and password. They have also used ssl128 bit encryption on their quote engine to keep your personal information and payment card details as secure as possible.
How do I change my password? If you have forgotten your password please call them on 0870 040 6644. One of their Elephant.co.uk handlers will be able to give you a new password.
How do I change my email address? The easiest and cheapest way to change your email address is to use the Elephant.co.uk interactive customer services facility. You make the changes yourself, which reduces their admin costs, a saving they pass on to you. You can call them on 0870 040 6644 to make a change or you can send an email to help@Elephant.co.uk.co.uk. There will be a small administration charge of £6 for any changes made over the phone or from an email sent to help@Elephant.co.uk.co.uk.
How will you deal with my emails? Their Elephant.co.uk handlers aim to reply to your emails within 24 hours.
How do I make a claim? If you need to report a claim, fill in their online claim form. Alternatively you can call them on 0870 608 0668.
Do I need to tell you if I've had an accident that wasn't my fault? Yes, all incidents, regardless of blame, need to be reported to Elephant.co.uk Insurance within 48 hours.
How do I make a windscreen claim? Windscreen cover is only available on Comprehensive cover. You can call their approved repairer (RAC Auto windscreens) on 0870 243 6436 and they will arrange an appointment. You will need to take your insurance certificate with you. An excess of £50 will be payable if the glass is replaced. If it's repaired there's no excess to pay. Please note, if you do not use their approved repairer, Elephant.co.uk will pay a maximum of £100 minus the £50 excess.
What is the difference between a 10 month bonus accelerator and an annual policy? The difference between their bonus accelerator and annual policies is the length of time you are on cover. They recommend if you have under four years No Claims Bonus entitlement, you should opt for their bonus accelerator policy. This runs for 10 months. Their bonus accelerator gives you one full year's no claims bonus after just 10 months, so you can build up your no claims bonus faster (as long as you don't make a claim). This is ideal for people who are taking out insurance for the first time, or who have recently lost their no claims bonus. If you already have a maximum no claims bonus, they recommend you take their annual policy. This runs for 12 months.
Am I insured to travel abroad? Yes, Your policy covers you to drive under the same cover as you have in the UK in the following countries: all EC countries, Czech Republic, Hungary, Croatia, Slovak Republic, Cyprus, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Iceland. You don't have to tell them if you are taking your car to any of these countries but you need to take your certificate. If you need to travel to Andorra, Poland, Malta or Romania, please email them at help@Elephant.co.uk.co.uk or call them on 0870 040 6644 as you will need to take a Green Card along with your Certificate of Motor Insurance to travel to these countries. Please note, the authorities in these countries will not accept photocopies of Green Cards as evidence of minimum insurance.
Can I claim free security window etching? Yes. If you have comprehensive cover you can call Elephant.co.uk's glass repair hotline on 0870 243 6436 and they'll direct you to your nearest glass repair centre. Please take your Certificate of Motor Insurance with you. Their free security window etching is a proven deterrent against car theft.
Am I insured to drive someone else's car? Elephnat may give the policyholder Third Party cover when driving someone else's car. This cover doesn't apply to cars owned or leased by the policyholder. Section 5 of your Certificate of Motor Insurance will show you if you have this cover. You should only use the cover for emergencies within the territorial limits of the policy. Please note - if you are eligible for this cover Elephant.co.uk will automatically include it for you. It is not available as an optional extra.
Is my car covered for someone else to drive? Only the people named on your current Certificate of Motor Insurance are insured to drive your car. It's easy to add a driver to your policy. You can add drivers for a few days or for the rest of your policy term. They just need to make sure the driver is eligible for insurance with Elephant.co.uk.co.uk first. Just call them on 0870 040 6644 to add a driver to your policy.
What is my No Claims Bonus? For every year of claim free driving, you will earn a discount towards the cost of your renewal (up to a maximum of five years). You may have already earned No Claims Bonus with your previous insurer. When you take out a policy with Elephant.co.uk, they will ask you for the name of your previous insurer, their phone number and your previous policy number. They will then contact them to confirm your No Claims Bonus entitlement.
